Overview

Diner On Franklin at 1/245 Franklin St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia brings a warm, casual feel to the local dining scene, especially for anyone who enjoys Korean-style comfort food with generous flavour. The menu has a nice balance between hearty meals, quick bites, and lighter choices, making the restaurant easy to consider for lunch, dinner, or a simple takeout order when you are moving through the city.

One of the standout dishes is the Kimchi Soup with Pork Bone Babsang. It sounds like the kind of bowl that delivers deep, savoury warmth, with the tangy kick of kimchi balanced by rich pork bone flavour. For diners who prefer a classic rice-based meal, the Beef Bibimbab Babsang is another strong option. It brings together beef, rice, vegetables, and the familiar comfort of a well-arranged Korean bowl, making it both filling and balanced.

For something bolder, Cheese Buldak adds a spicy and creamy edge to the menu. The melted cheese softens the heat while still letting the dish feel exciting and full of character. Meanwhile, the Korean Fried Chicken Set is a great pick for those who enjoy crispy textures and shareable plates. It fits well as a quick bite, but it can also feel satisfying enough for a relaxed casual meal.

Diner On Franklin also offers healthy options, including Tofu and Vegetables w Banchan. This dish gives the menu a lighter side, with tofu, vegetables, and small Korean side dishes adding variety to the plate. It is a helpful choice for diners looking for something nourishing without giving up flavour.

The restaurant provides takeout, which is convenient for busy Melbourne locations like Franklin Street. Practical details such as a restroom and paid parking lot nearby also make the visit easier to plan. Based on the dishes and services provided, Diner On Franklin suits people who want flavourful Korean-inspired food in a casual setting. For restaurant reviews focused on comfort, value, and menu variety, this place has plenty of appealing points to mention.

Came here for dinner with friends on recommendation. Must say the food taste good. Very authentic Korean ! We had the banchan sets with a cold noodles ( this one is vegetarian so good for people whom don’t do meat) and a seafood pancake. This cafe don’t do side dishes like some other Korean restaurants. So if you want side dishes go for the banchan sets. Small place - definitely don’t come in a big group. Very popular with foreigners ! Just the owners ain’t so friendly! Well they can as the food is really good. Pricing is ok, not cheap as the banchan set is $29 per head. If you are in the area and could get a table, go for it.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Came here for lunch recently for the first time and it was amazing. They have a good lunchtime special where it's slightly cheaper and we got the beef bulgogi and KFC babsangs. Was it worth it? Definitely! It's a very low-profile Korean restaurant with minamalistic decorations run by a couple. I would love to try their other options next time, highly recommended to any Korean food lovers! Thanks for the lunch both! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

Highly recommend!!! Have been a couple of times and just can’t get enough of it! The sets are perfect for a nutritious lunch or dinner for one, and there are shared dishes too. Tofu soup with seafood & Kimchi soup with pork bone are both delicious! the side dishes are really good, especially the cauliflower It’s a small place ran by a Korean couple and they are super nice and welcoming ~~~ Will come back often and support their business

The price is very reasonable and food has big portion, I love they put so much effort into the variety in their side dishes, I’m impressed they even put three types of fruit and a mini cake; I had takeaway and they were well packed. Love their kimchi. This restaurant really is a hidden gem. I will definitely return again and recommend to friends!

such a delicious restaurant run by lovely people. the food is excellent, the atmosphere is warm, and the prices are reasonable. we ordered the beef bibimbap babsang, kimchi pajeon, and tteokkochi, and it was more than enough food split between the two of us. we also had a podo bong bong (korean grape juice), which i was glad to see on the menu and complimented the meal perfectly. all of the banchan with the babsang were incredibly delicious and it was a substantial amount of food. the tteokkochi was also a must-order.

What a cosy diner found in Melbourne CBD serving such delicious Korean food. We tried their famous Babsang which was stunning. The small little bites were simply so fresh, amazing and the perfect size to complement the main dish - in this case, we ordered the Chilli Pork Bulgogi. Such great flavours combined beautifully with the rice. The fried chicken is the other highlight - so juicy and they put the perfect amount of sauce to make it one of the most delicious fried chicken I’ve had in a while! Worth visiting if you’re looking a clean and sleek Korean restaurant!
